Motherhood is an incredible journey, but let me tell you, it hasn’t been easy by any means. If someone had shown me just how much my life would change after becoming a mom, I’m not entirely sure I would have chosen this path. Don’t get me wrong—I love my kiddo with all my heart and soul. But the struggles I’ve faced, particularly as a mom who had her baby during the pandemic, have been profound and life-changing.
The pandemic robbed so many of us of what should have been joyful moments. I couldn’t show off my pregnancy, share the excitement with friends and family, or even have my husband with me at most doctor’s appointments. When our daughter was born, no one could visit us in the hospital—we were completely alone from the very beginning. The isolation, uncertainty, and worry about the state of the world created a trauma I’m still working through.
They say, “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger,” and my goodness, I think I’m well on my way to becoming the female Hulk—LOL! Between juggling motherhood, a full-time corporate job of over 40 hours a week, and being a wife, I spread myself far too thin. I paid the price with my mental health. (But that’s a story for another day.) Through it all, I’ve learned so much about myself, my limits, and my surroundings, and I hope to share those lessons with other women who might be feeling the same weight.
One thing I’ve come to realize is that the world—especially in this post-pandemic era—is not set up to support moms. And in a Latino/Mexican household, the expectations and cultural pressures can make it even harder. (Again, stories for another day—trust me, I have plenty to say!)
I’m excited to share my journey with you—what I’ve learned, what didn’t work, and all the little moments in between. This blog is a space for connection, honesty, and growth. To all the moms out there feeling the feels, know this: we’re in this together, and we can thrive in this ever-changing world. Let’s lift each other up and help each other find joy and balance, one step at a time.
Welcome to my story—I’m so glad you’re here. 💖
